Three powerful women’s voices on Women’s Digital Financial Inclusion in Ethiopia

 

We had the chance to speak to three women from Ethiopia about how the Women’s Digital Financial Advocacy Hub (WDFI) will be key in reinforcing the work local organisations like and how they will ultimately help overcome the barriers to financial inclusion that women face in the country.


Africa’s Women’s Day is observed annually across the continent on 31 July and is a day earmarked to recognise and affirm the role of women’s organising in achieving the political freedom of Africa and advancing the social and economic status of women on the continent.

We’re taking this day to highlight the voices of three women from Ethiopia, whose insightful interviews helped us understand the challenges faced by women in Ethiopia and what is required to assist the underserved and excluded population to overcome these barriers.


Samiya Godu, the founder & CEO of the Ethiopia Youth Entrepreneurs Association (EYE-A), outlines the challenges in accessing digital financial services for women in Ethiopia and how the Women’s Digital Financial Advocacy Hub (WDFI) will play a role is overcoming these barriers.
