Inclusive digital economies

We believe countries can build on the successes of digital financial services to create more opportunities to include people in the “digital” economy.

Overview

The world economy is transforming due to the rapid evolution and growing use of information and communications technologies (ICTs).

For example, the availability of mobile phones and mobile applications has accelerated access to digital financial services in many parts of the world. But the opportunity afforded by mobile technology has the potential to go so much further. Increasingly, mobile phones are important tools for accessing healthcare, education, and other services, especially in times of crisis.

An inclusive digital economy takes a broad view of what’s possible when governments harness digital tools to help more people connect to support, services, and opportunities.
